About Art Walk SD

A practical, independently written guide to San Diego's museums, galleries, murals, and art walks — built for people who want specifics, not adjectives.

What this site is

Art Walk SD covers San Diego's art and museum scene the way a well-organized local friend would: what's actually in each museum, what a ticket costs, when admission is free, how long to budget, and how the various institutions and neighborhoods connect to each other. We write for two overlapping audiences — visitors planning a trip and residents who haven't gotten around to the museum three miles from their house.

How we work

Every page on this site is organized around a specific question a reader is actually trying to answer — "is this worth the ticket price," "when is it free," "how do I get from one museum to the next." We favor concrete numbers (hours, prices, distances, gallery counts) over broad claims like "must-see" or "a hidden gem." Where we're uncertain about a detail that changes often — pricing, hours, temporary exhibits — we say so and point you to the source that will always be current.

What this site is not

Art Walk SD is not operated by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any museum, gallery, city agency, or arts organization named on this site. We don't sell tickets, and we don't accept payment in exchange for coverage or favorable mentions. Institution names, exhibit names, and event names are used descriptively, for identification purposes, under fair use — not as a claim of partnership.

Independent by design. If a page here mentions a long-running local tradition — like the second-Saturday gallery walk that's run in San Diego neighborhoods for years — we're describing the pattern of the event, not speaking on behalf of any organizer or brand that runs it.

Corrections

Museum hours, ticket prices, and exhibits change more often than most guides admit. If you spot something on this site that's out of date or wrong, tell us on the contact page and we'll fix it.
